Babirye and her three siblings were living in a situation that required immediate intervention according to Uganda social welfare. The children's father died in July 2006 from complications due to AIDS, and their mother was also HIV+ and not expected to live long. All four children arrived at the Rafiki Village Uganda in 2006. Now, Mary's favorite subjects are art, biology, and English. She is trying very hard to concentrate in class and to make good use of the opportunity God has given her for a strong classical Christian education. Babirye seeks to live by faith and not by sight.
