Ruth’s mother abandoned her and placed her in the care of her elderly grandmother. The family lived in poverty, and her grandmother could not provide for her granddaughter's most basic needs. They asked the Rafiki Foundation to assume Ruth's care. She arrived at the Rafiki Village Kenya in October 2010. Ruth is happy and a well-adjusted young woman. She is very friendly and ready to assist others. Ruth enjoys learning about animals in science, and she also enjoys math.
